We do not recruit for the sake of numbers.  We believe the quality of our membership far outweighs the quantity.  And we are a tight knit group!  We have tons of fun but are very serious when needed.  We have a good mixture of vets and civilians.

We accept people of all genders, races, and skill levels.  You must not be a felon, and you must be able to legally own a firearm.  You must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and mode of transportation.

There are a few things a recruit must do and accomplish before becoming a member of The Southern Arizona Militia.

1: Complete three printed forms.  A release of liability agreement, a non-disclosure agreement, and the application itself.

2: A recruit must complete their own background check.  This can generally be done at an FFL or some Sheriff’s departments.  Again, no felons. If you have a current CCW, armed guard card, or other various current certifications that require a federal background check, that works as well.

3: A recruit must complete a three-month probationary period, with a potential maximum of six months.

4: A recruit will need to have weekends off.  Or at least the weekends we are in the field. Which generally speaking, is every other weekend.  Although in some cases, we do have members that go out every weekend.

5: A recruit will have up to six months to acquire the short gear list that they will receive upon their recruitment meeting.

It may sound like a lot, but if you’re willing and dedicated to doing something far bigger than you, then it really isn’t that much.  If you’re here to do the minimum and you’re allergic to putting effort into something, we don’t want you.

We recruit out of Tucson/Casa Grande areas, but will recruit as far as Phoenix and Wilicox if the recruit is willing to always travel.
